No, healthcare experience or formal qualifications are not always required to apply for a Healthcare Assistant role or other Homecare specific roles. Manor Homecare welcome applicants who are compassionate, reliable, and interested in working in care, even if they are new to the healthcare sector.
While previous experience in healthcare or a relevant qualification (such as a Level 5 QQI core modules)can be an advantage, in some cases its not essential. We can provide full training, induction programmes, and ongoing support to help new staff develop the skills needed for the role.

Many Healthcare Assistant, Field Care roles offer a range of shift patterns, including part-time hours, weekend work, or flexible schedules. If you are unable to work full-time, you are still encouraged to apply and indicate your availability and preferred working hours during the application process.

Some common career progression options include:
1. Rapid Responder
With experience, you may progress into a senior role where you support emergency calls, support other carers, help coordinate care, and ensure high standards are maintained.2. Care Coordinator or Scheduler
This role involves organising care visits, supporting care staff, and working closely with clients and families to ensure care plans are followed.3. Healthcare Supervisor
With further training and experience, you may move into a supervisory role where you oversee care services, manage teams, and ensure quality and compliance.4. Specialist Roles
You may choose to specialise in areas such as dementia care, disability support, palliative care, or rehabilitation support through additional training.5. Further Education in Healthcare
Many people use their homecare experience as a pathway into careers such as nursing, social care, or other healthcare professions, often supported by further study.6. Clinical Pathways
Many HCAs progress to become nurses or progress with pre- nursing courses.
